Gaming is dead to me…almost dead
So, in the past few years, it became apparent that I no longer appreciate gaming like I used to. Maybe it’s because I am older(but plenty of OLD, I mean really OLD people play games still…), or perhaps it’s because they don’t make them how they used to. Every new game since Playstation 2 that I have bought at launch(and there is not that many), I have still not finished them or even spent much time with them. Magna Carta, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII, are just a few examples. It’s just not the same to me.
In the past year or so, I’ve been trying very hard to make some time for games that I held dear to my heart, to play them again to see if I like them as much as I used to. I started with PS Classics like Wild ARMS 1 and 2, Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil….mostly because these games are playable on the PSP during my commute. And I definitely still enjoy these oldies. Just that instead of having tons of time to play at home, I prefer to play them on the go.
And one last thing, I have been trying to play all the classics that I missed during their popular era, Metal Gear Solid, yea, I never even PLAYED this when it came out. Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn is another. And now I am replaying one of my favorite games of all time and it’s still amazingly fun after all these years….
I looovvvezzz vidgames and my pet fish named beta
I recently revisted the Matrix world and I like the movies alot more this time around. I don’t remember much of the plot twists from nearly 10 years ago. Although I can recall alot of the more memorable scenes, I don’t remember ever comprehending the storyline the first time I watched the trilogy.
Wild Arms 2 (1.04)
So it’s been 4 months, I am still playing this game! The game should have ended about 10 hours ago. I am on Disc 2 now, I believe its near the end. From the second disk on, the storyline makes no sense. They are fighting “an entity” now. A parallel universe threatening to take over Filgaia”. Sounds pretty dumb to me. I hope this game ends soon. I think overall rating I would give this game now is 6/10. It’s barely above average and the game should have been 1 disc and 10 less hours to complete.
Oops, almost forgot an important point. Kanon should have been the main character, not the Rudy look-alike femininely named Ashley. He’s so boring. Kanon’s character design is awesome, half of her body is made of metal. Her past is way more interesting than Ashley, she is the descendant of the Sword Magess. Sigh, I don’t want to be a brave young warrior with a strong sense of justice and always does the right thing. How about that sadistic, vengeful half demon with a appetite for blood? O wait, it’s probably also been done to death. Anyway, Kanon should get her own stand alone game.
Ragnarok - Into the Abyss
This is one of my favorite manhwa of all time. The art is amazing and all of the characters are uniquely designed. I am in love with almost every character in this manhwa. And I am amazed by the storyline. I started reading it again recently. I don’t remember much of the story, only bits and pieces. And it has been an amazing read even after all these years. Too bad the series is under hiatus because of Ragnarok the online game. I hope this series continues on, and maybe even spawn an anime(not Ragnarok the Animation, which is based more on the online game), an ACTUAL anime based on the manhwa. And maybe if god loves us, a videogame faithful to the art and storyline of the original manhwa. Please!
Wild Arms 2 (1.03) - SPOILER ALERT
So, I played WA 2 on the go for a couple of hours this weekend. And I was somewhat stuck. As I visited everywhere possible and even talked to everyone in the town, I still was unsure what to follow next. Then after about an hour of running around, I finally found the right person to be talking to about what to do next. The more I listened to the music, the easier it is on my ears. The dungeon music even became stuck in my head for a while. Although, so far the game is very much flawed, it could use quite a bit of polish but it’s still a decent package with some interesting characters and backstories. Our hero Ashley was involved in a demon summoning, and he along with his comrads turned into demons! Ashley became this kind of cool white demon, somehow he was the only one who retained his sanity after turning into a demon. Also, the Arthur’s sword that no one could pull from the rock suddenly became accessible to the demon Ashley. It’s quite a cool way to keep the player attached. I can’t wait to find out what the story is behind Rudy…I mean Ashley.
Street Fighter II Special Championship Edition
Still one of my favorite games.
Wild Arms 2 (1.02)
I just realized, the music in this game is downright bad. Well, to be fair, it’s prob average. But I love the music of the first Wild ARMs and in comparison, the music in this game just doesn’t measure up. I’m still playing through this game, but I’m noticing more and more awkward transitions and conversations…
Wild Arms 2 (1.01)
Wow. I don’t remember anything about this game at all. I can’t believe I beat this game before. It must have been around 10 years ago. Maybe 8-9. But wow, I don’t recall any of it. The only thing that is vaguely familiar are the characters and I remember the opening song was catchy.
Anyway, so far, the game is average. With some really awkward dialogs/translations. And the presentation is a bit jagged, not very smooth. The storyline is a bit slow but its just enough mystery and charm for me to move on. At least I’m not bored yet.
